How do I get access to Full Text in PubMed?

Answer

PubMed collects or indexes content from journals around the world and puts them together in an interface to search through.  Because these articles come from all over, PubMed directs the user most often to their full text (PMC Free Full Text) when available or full text from the journal publisher's website.

For PMC free full text in PubMed, click the icon that says PMC Free Full Text at the top of the right hand column.  On the page that opens, click on the PDF link at the top of the right hand column.

To access articles that are not marked PMC Free Full Text use the Marist College icon at the top of the right hand column on the page for the article.  This link will provide you with more links to try and find full text.

If the library does not have access to the article, you will need to request it from another library using Interlibrary Loan.  If this is the only option for access, it will say that on the page that opens when you click the Marist College icon.  Articles typically take 2-3 days to arrive via email through Interlibrary Loan
