How do I cite a newspaper in CSE Style?

Newspapers are cited very much like journal articles, except for a few minor differences. Identify the following pieces and use the formatting provided to make a finished citation:

  1. Start with the author’s name (if the article does not list an author, leave it out) formatted as follows:
    1. Last name Initial(s). (include any initials provided by the paper)
  2. Then the date of the article formatted: Year Mon Day
  3. Title of the article.
  4. Name of the Newspaper (this is not abbreviated, spell it out).
  5. [accessed Year Mon Day].
  6. URL.

Here is what it should look like:

Smith J. 2021 Sept 25. Clownfish abound. New York Times. [accessed 2009 Apr 3].

Check with your professor about whether you need to include an access date or not.
