How do I prevent plagiarism?
Answer
- A good first step to prevent plagiarism is to take good notes when finding the materials you want to refer to in your work.
- Another tip to prevent plagiarism is to never leave your work until the last minute when you end up not giving yourself enough time to properly cite your sources. Proper citation plays a major role in preventing plagiarism. Always make sure you are giving credit where credit is due.
- Keep in mind that any ideas that are not your own need to be cited, not just direct quotes. This includes photographs, images, maps, charts, infographics, graphs!
- When in doubt, cite! If you have questions or need help citing your sources, reach out and a Librarian can help!
