How to cite an image/chart/graph in CSE Name-Year Style?
Answer
This question has been updated to the 9th edition of CSE Style. If you are using 8th edition, see this Library Handout, Quick Guide, or contact a librarian.
To cite an image, chart, or graph from a journal article, cite the journal article and add any information that would direct your reader to the item in the journal article after the information about the journal article.
Author last name first initials. Date. Title of article. Journal Title Abbreviated. Volume(issue number):
Page numbers. Figure/Table Number, Name of Image/Chart/Graph; page number where
it can be found in article. doi number

To cite an image, chart, or graph from other print/published sources (books, magazines, newspapers, etc.,), cite the original source in full and follow with the title of the item. If it is a source without page numbers, just leave them out of the description for the item.
