How do I cite an eBook accessed through an e-reader (ex. Kindle, Nook)?

Answer

APA does not require that you put in that it is an eBook if it is the same as the print version.

If you are uncertain if it is the same, APA recommends citing an eBook accessed through an e-reader as follows:

Author, A. A. (Year). Title of book [E-reader Name ed.]. Publisher.

Smith, J. (2022). My Life. [Kindle ed.]. Books 'R' Us.

Chicago recommends citing an eBook accessed through an e-reader as follows:

Footnote

1 Author First Name Author Last Name, Title (Publisher, Publication Year), page number, E-reader name.

1 John Smith, My Life (Books 'R' Us, 2022), 2, Kindle.

Bibliography

Author Last Name, Author First Name. Title. Publisher, Year. E-reader Name.

Smith, John. My Life. Books 'R' Us, 2022. Kindle.
