How do I convert a Pages doc to Microsoft Word if I don’t have Word for Mac?

Answer

You need to convert your Pages document to Microsoft Word in order to print it on campus computers or submit it to a professor, the Writing Center, the Proofreading Center, or a librarian as most Marist faculty and staff do not have access to Pages and prefer a Word doc to a PDF.  You don’t need Word for Mac to convert it though.

To do this:

  1. In the Pages document, click “File” in the top menu
  2. Choose “Export To” in the drop down
  3. Select Word in the menu that appears
  4. Click “Next”
  5. Name the file.
  6. Click Export

It will automatically convert it to Word and while you won’t be able to open and edit it on your Mac, you can email it to your professor or to yourself in order to print it.  It can also be uploaded to Brightspace.

If these options are not available in your version of Pages, Google how to convert Pages to Microsoft Word with your version date or number to find instructions specific to your version.

If you need further help, contact a librarian.
