How long can I check out an Article or Book that I got through Interlibrary Loan?

Answer

Articles are typically sent as PDFs and are yours to keep once you download it from the ILL system.  You can download the article up to 5 times for a 30 day period.

For books, there is no set check out length.  The lending library determines how long you can have the book so due dates will vary.  The due date is written on the front of the book.  Because due dates vary, it is a good idea to pick up the book as soon as possible to ensure adequate time with the book.

If you need the book longer, you can request a renewal, see the FAQ “How do I renew my Interlibrary Loan (ILL) item?” for help with that.

If you need further help, contact a librarian.
