I’m going to be out of town. Can I have a librarian speak to my class while I’m not there?

Answer

A visit from a librarian requires the professor's presence whether the class is online or in person.

It is against library policy to meet with classes without faculty present and your presence is beneficial for many reasons:

  • Students participate in class and engage with the material more frequently when faculty are present.
  • It gives faculty members the opportunity to connect the material presented to your assignments and course goals. Due to this, we encourage you to interrupt and reinforce the points we are making.
  • It allows for faculty to know what we have covered and where we have left off. This helps you so that you can follow up if your students apply what they have learned to their assignments.
  • Finally, it also allows for us all to make connections with each other to better serve the Marist community.

If you need further help, contact a librarian.
