How do I cite something that is cited in my source in MLA Style? (indirect/secondary sources)

Answer

MLA recommends the following for citing a source mentioned in the text of the source you have:

At the start of the sentence:

Author Last Name(s) (of source mentioned in text of your source) wrote…(qtd. in your source’s Author's Last Name(s) page number of your source)

Smith wrote….(qtd. in Jones 5).

Or

At the end of the sentence:

(Author Last Name(s) (of source mentioned in text of your source) qtd. in your source’s Author's Last Name(s) page number of your source).

(Smith qtd. in Jones 5).

For your Works Cited, you will just cite your source and not the source cited within it since you did not have that source.
