How do I cite a streaming video in APA Style (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.,)?

Answer

This example should not be used to cite television shows, documentaries, or movies on streaming services or on YouTube.  Refer resources on the APA page of the Library's Citation Help for guidance on how to cite these.

APA recommends citing a streaming video as follows:

Name of Uploader. (Year, Month Day of Video Upload). Title of video [Video]. Name of Platform Hosting

Video.* URL

Count Westwest. (2017, May 28). Elbphilharmonie grand opening: “Ode to Joy” light show [Video].

  YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JDQ2NkHVc8

*This could be YouTube, Vimeo, etc.,
