How do I cite presentation slides from Brightspace in Chicago Style?
Answer
This question has been updated to the 18th edition of Chicago Style. If you are using 17th edition, see this Library Handout, Purdue OWL, or contact a librarian.
Your professor may or may not require you to cite slides from class, so check with them.
If that's not possible, Chicago recommends citing any kind of lecture content using the example for a publicly attended lecture or presentation, see the following examples:
1. First Name Last Name of Professor, “Title of Powerpoint.” Course Number and Name, PowerPoint presentation, Marist University, Poughkeepsie, NY, Date of PowerPoint, Brightspace.
1. Ralph Williams, “Analyzing Business Practices.” BUS001 Introduction to Business Analysis, PowerPoint presentation, Marist University, Poughkeepsie, NY, January 21, 2023, Brightspace.
Lectures should only be cited in the footnotes or text and not the bibliography.
If you need further help, contact a librarian.
