How do I cite a lab manual or handout/brief in ACS Style?

Answer

Always check with your professor to see if you are required to cite these materials and how they would like them cited.

ACS Style does not provide specific guidance on how to cite a lab manual or handout/brief, librarians have created this guidance based upon the ACS Guide to Scholarly Communication rules for citing a print book.

Lab Manuals

1. Professor Last Name, First Initial(s). Lab Manual Title; Marist University, Publication Year.

1. Smith, J. How to Chemistry; Marist University, 2022.

For the lab handout or brief, use the title on the document followed by the word Handout.

1. Professor Last Name, First Initial(s). Handout Name Handout. Marist University, Publication Year.

1. Smith, J. Heat of Neutralization Handout. Marist University, 2023.
