How do I cite a television show in MLA Style?

Answer

  • MLA recommends that you cite television shows beginning with their episode title.
  • Include the film studio or distributor, and the release year. 
  • For the in-text citation include the title (or a shortened title) and a time range.
  • Examples below include citations for both physical and streaming media.

 

Television Show on DVD

“Episode Title.” Title of Series, season number, episode number, Network, Episode air date. Studio or Distributor. Release Years during which the series aired. Physical Medium.

“Episode Title.” Title of Series, season X, episode X, Network, Episode air date. Studio or Distributor. Release Years during which the series aired. Streaming Service Name.
