When is a good time to have a librarian visit my class for an instruction session?

Answer

Ideally, library instruction should be scheduled at the point in the semester when the library workshop best fits the learning outcomes and process of an assignment. Students respond best when they can see the immediate application of the session to their assignment needs. We do our best to allow students the opportunity to do hands-on activities, and if they already have their assignment and an idea of their topic, concepts can be applied directly.

In order for the most students to get the most out of a library instruction session, we suggest that sessions not be held in the class session right before a break and ask that the faculty member be present.

If you need further help, contact a librarian.
